Davis Garage is proud to employ mechanics with many years of experience. In addition to the hands-on experience each automotive technician (A.K.A. mechanic) has acquired over the years, all of the employees work on continuing their education through training seminars, courses, and ASE certification tests. The seminars cover a range of topics from reviewing the basics of A/C work to introducing the newest technologies available and how to use them. The certification tests are regulated by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). These standardized tests* are available for many automotive industries (ex. collision work, heavy duty trucks, car repair, etc.) for a variety of content areas (ex. brakes, steering and suspension, engine repair, etc.). A person who has at least two years of experience and has passed one ASE test is considered a certified technician. Each test is only good for a five year certification. After five years, the technician must take a re-certification test in order to stay certified in that content area.
A certified technician may also try to become a "Master Technician". For the automobile industry, when a certified technician has passed A1 through A8 he has achieved Master Technician status. Just as it is for any other technician, he must continue to take the re-certification tests in order to maintain that status.
